Ubud is located right in the center of Bali and is considered to be the religious and artistically heart of Bali. In contrast to the more touristic areas like Kuta, Sanur and Nusa Dua, you will not find high-rise hotels and loud discotheques and no, you will not find beaches in Ubud. But if you look for Balinese ceremonies, beautiful art in paintings, wood- and stone-carving and a lot of culture then Ubud is the place to be.

Ubud has two big shopping roads; Jalan Monkey Forest and Jalan Hanoman and on the latter, near the center and within walking distance of all facilities, you will find the best deal in town Jangkrik Homestay.

This is a bed and breakfast homestay where you can enjoy Balinese family life with all the luxuries and amenities that a western tourist wants. At this moment we can offer 6 rooms with double beds (high quality mattresses), all teak-wood furniture, free Wifi (very good quality, many times this is very poor), each room with its own bathroom and western style toilet and warm and cold water shower, high-quality ceiling fan (no air-conditioning), splendid breakfast on a balcony from where you can enjoy the sunset on the Gunung Agung. So even though we are located in the center of Ubud our homestay is built on the family compound of Made Suarta (the owner) and it enjoys the quietness and tranquility of Balinese family life.

Made Suarta and Kadek Rusni (his wife) started this brand-new place in June 2011 and they have made sure that all is built in real Balinese style with doors and windows all made of beautiful wood-carving and the stonework around it is a prime example of the craftsmanship of the Balinese workers although you can better call them artists.
